Our Philosophy

Body Engineering: The laws of physics, physiology and biomechanics govern changes in performance. Maximizing these improvements in body and mind will only come with precise training, not random exercise. 

Sustainable Body: Not only does a strong, durable body resist injury and illness, but also the mental toughness gained through hard work leaves one ready to meet the challenges of work and exercise.

Can And Will:  Be empowered. Learn how much you can do, and then push past that limit. We educate, inspire, and teach people with a passion for moving. We train anyone who wants to work hard and train like an athlete - both physically and mentally. 



Founded in 2013 by Lisa Giannone, The Garage was created to give athletes, and those that want to train like them, the opportunity to improve performance and increase injury resistance.

With degrees in physical therapy and kinesiology, graduating summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from UCLA and UCSF, Lisa has the academic background to back up the clinical experience. Driven by her training and education in advanced sports science, Lisa has continued to create new and innovative ways to exercise.

So, after 26 years rehabbing and conditioning some of the best professional and elite athletes in the world- including the NFL, MLB, Olympic, NBA and professional dance- Lisa decided it was time to open an elite training facility for the community.

Using the concepts that have made her the subject of articles in Sports Illustrated and San Francisco Magazine, Lisa has made The Garage the only elite performance center in San Francisco, next door to her established rehabilitation training center, Active Care.

This goal has been realized as on any given day you find dancers, boxers, swimmers, professional athletes, and community members pushing their own mental and physical limits with Hammer Classes, open gym, and private training.
